Whether you’re at home getting shots up on your own or working out with friends, the right basketball shooting drills and the right equipment are key to improving efficiency and building confidence. Here are three shooting drills I love to do with the WILSON NBA Authentic Series Basketball.
2v2 Decision-Making Shooting
To start, a defender tosses the ball to the offensive player. The defenders close out on each pass. Every time the offense passes to their teammate, the passer’s defender must touch the cone before contesting the shot. Make it tougher on the offense by limiting the number of passes.
Timed Shooting Drill
Start by setting up 3 cones (close, middle, far) on the court. The shooter begins at the closest cone. Take 3 shots at the first cone (each make is worth 1 point). Then move to the second cone and take 2 shots (each worth 2 points). Then move to the farthest cone (each made shot is worth 3 points). Start the stopwatch on the shooter’s first shot. See how fast you can score 10 points.
Star Shooting
Set up 5 cones in a star pattern. The 1st shot is taken at top of the key; 2nd at the opposite corner; 3rd at the opposite wing; 4th at the opposite wing; and 5th at opposite corner. How many out of 5 can you make?
