Doug Novak’s Basketball Finishing School

Want to raise your basketball team’s FG% around the rim? Then you need a plan – and that plan doesn’t include more layup lines!

Finishing plans aim to either find or create space in order to create advantages for the ballhandler (and thus high percentage shots). In order to do that, you need to build a strong foundation of habits that include timing, rhythm and balance.

Developed through a “Freeze Drill” within the “Finishing School Series” (focusing on skills from fingertips to elbows and ball protection). This includes demonstrating 17 finishes with consistent footwork and 11 post moves, allowing players to create personalized move blueprints.

Speed and Angles: Building on the “Finishing School Series” with choreographed speed finishes from various locations and transitions from drives to post-ups.

Finally, test your players’ finishing skills through 5 pressure advantage drills (1-1 to 4-4) followed by game footage.
